Fembots, Explained: The Sinister Reality of "Perfect" Robot Women & AI
The "fembot" (aka female robot or artificial intelligence,) is usually beautiful and completely programmable, and functions as an idealized, eroticized iteration of femininity - a woman without opinions, preferences, or sexual agency. She frequently appears in sci-fi and horror movies as a way of exploring the dark side of male desire, and the backlash against feminism - but also as a cautionary tale about the implications of an increasingly technological existence. So why is the fembot such a mainstay in film and TV - and what does the future hold for her? Let’s take a deeper look.

I found this video very interesting. It dawned on me that the "I'm not like other girls" stance, which undermines women in general because it seems to say that "normal" women are "less" , is a form of bigotry similar to the "You're one of the good ones" statement when applied to a minority. The implication is that your race or minority group is generally bad or "less than" the majority group (usually referring to straight white males). You'd be surprised how many times people have said something like that to me and think they are being complimentary and are not aware they are letting their racism show. When white people tell me there is no more racism on the side of white people, that only people of colour are racist towards white people, I have to stifle myself from laughing in their face.

That topic always disgusted me. It's the complete erasure of consent. And everything I saw in the last years, shows that every new piece of tech, that can help create a realistic female sexbot, will be used to do exactly that. In the media, ie Detroit: Become Human, Westworld seasons 1+2 or the Buffybot, it shows what could be possible, without anyone being able to stop, the use and abuse of those humanlike bots. Every abuse you witness, you have to ignore since they are property.

Their main goal is to create a society where women have all of the power and men are oppressed. It’s as simple as that. Fembots take away power from women because a woman’s sexuality is one of her main tools of manipulating men into giving her things that she wants. All of the simping that goes on today from men in our society that want to agree with what feminist are saying in hopes that those women sleep with them will end when Fembots come into existence. I just saw this film and was surprised at how much I enjoyed the story. While I am not sure I would like to rewatch it, I do feel it is a story that everyone can relate to. You do get a sense that there was love and a longing for creation of a family from both Elvis and Pricilla, yet like he says at the end when she leaves him, the timing was wrong. He wanted the full experience of a career and home life as he saw it and she wanted a bf, a lover, a husband and a man, with whom she would never be lonely. The loneliness united them and if one would take fame out of the equation, perhaps they could have had it all. I feel Sofia did a very good job at respecting the things considered private and showing both the good and the bad. At times I felt parallels with Marie-Antoinette and happy that Princilla grew up and understood that it was time to leave, how brave of a decision was thay, given how her life was controlled and she had to now be on her own.

I think P&P is a bad example to use. Because Jane isn't the 'special' one, she isn't the protagonist or main love object of the story, Lizzie is, who is less pretty. It isn't an example of the 'hot one' trope but actually subverting it where Austen is saying that a woman's personality, spirit and intelligence is more important in making her interesting and finding her 'love' than her looks are. And this sentiment is repeated throughout her books, except for Emma (who would be a better example of the hot one trope between her and harriet - but also a criticism of it), the protagonist or main love object is never the prettiest in the room, it is more about her character and mind that attracts her love interest. more progressive than most stories today! The fact that it is Lizzie saying it to Jane without any jealousy also shows how the sister's don't have that cliche jealousy for each other, appreciate and can compliment each other, and that Lizzie isn't worried at all about being the 'prettiest' - even if her pride is hurt when Darcy calls her ugly, so we know she at least likes to be considered nice looking (who doesn't), this never results in a competition between women
